Small,
sturdy with amazing colures and happy outgoing temperament
- who would not fall in love. The breed has it's origin in
Russia and had two varieties. Franzuska and Tsvetnaya bolonka.
The white dogs (Franzuska) came to be reregistered as Bolognese
and still this day many calls the Tsvetnaya bolonka "the
coloured bolognese". This is not correct as the word
"bolonka" has nothing in common with the word "bolognese".
Bolonka means "lapdog" and tsvetnaya means "coloured".
Simply "coloured lapdog".
As their relatives in the Bichonfamily they
don't shed and are often accepted by allergic people. The
coat should be curly or very wavy and astonishing easy to
maintain. Of course there is need for regular grooming.
To sum
up, they don't need (but easily manage) hour-long walks, no
special food (diet), no exaggerated coat care, get along fine
with people in all ages. Associates very well with other dogs
and animals in the household. They are very social and often
live a long life. Their size, that would mean small ;-) ,
makes it easy to travel, the dog is easy to bring on the plane,
train and bus.
They come
in almost any colour, apart from white which is not approved.
(see the breed standard).
